For all classes – students must sign up in advance.  No drop-ins will be allowed during Oregon’s Phase 1 reopening due to Covid-19 restrictions. 

 

Fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu – we will focus on fundamental techniques, principles, and movements involved in jiu jitsu, and will base this class on our Intro to Jiu Jitsu Program Syllabus.  Students will be required to EITHER bring their own grappling dummies to this class OR come with their “Quarantine Partner”, who are people who live together or have been quarantined together; both Quarantine Partners must be members of UJJ.  Students will be restricted to a state mandated thirty-six square foot training square.  There will be NO SPARRING in this class.  The only contact will be between Quarantine Partners.

 

All Levels Jiu Jitsu – we will focus on fundamental techniques, principles, and movements involved in jiu jitsu.  We will also introduce some more intermediate level techniques in this class.  Students will be required to EITHER bring their own grappling dummies to this class OR come with their Quarantine Partner, who are people who live together or have been quarantined together; both Quarantine Partners must be members of UJJ.  Students will be restricted to a state mandated thirty-six square foot training square.  There will be little sparring in this class, limited to Quarantine Partners.  Solo students who are training with a grappling dummy will not do any sparring.  The only contact will be between Quarantine Partners.

 

Advanced Jiu Jitsu – we will focus on more advanced positions and techniques and will spend time drilling these advanced techniques with some situational sparring.  Students will be required to sign up for this class with a Quarantine Partner, who are people who live together or have been quarantined together; both Quarantine Partners must be members of UJJ.  Quarantine Partners will be restricted to a state mandated thirty-six square foot training square.  There will be some sparring, but contact will be limited to contact between Quarantine Partners only.

 

Kickboxing – we will blend traditional Muay Thai and western kickboxing techniques.  These classes will focus on basic techniques, principles, and movements.  Students will be restricted to a state mandated thirty-six square foot training square.  There will be NO CONTACT in this class.

 

Kids Jiu Jitsu - we welcome kids ages 6-13.  We will focus on fundamental techniques, principles, and movements involved in jiu jitsu.  This program will help children develop self-confidence, discipline, respect, and coordination while learning the fundamentals of jiu jitsu in a fun family atmosphere.  Students will be required to bring their own grappling dummies to this class, will only drill with their own dummy, and will be restricted to a state mandated thirty-six square foot training square.  In the case of siblings, siblings CAN work together in a partner drilling situation, but siblings are NOT required to work together.  Parents, we can discuss this on a case by case basis.  There will be NO CONTACT in this class, except for siblings, who may have contact only with their sibling.

 

Fitness - this class is designed to improve overall fitness, cardio, explosiveness, and endurance.  We will begin with a warm-up, followed by a dynamic circuit including kickboxing drills, the rowing machine, kettlebells, TRX system, and other bodyweight exercises.  Fitness class is for everyone including people just getting back into shape to people getting ready for jiu jitsu competitions and everyone in-between, and is also great for parents while their children are training in our kid’s jiu jitsu classes (on Tuesday and Thursday this class is at the same time as the kids jiu jitsu classes).  We will be following the state mandated social distancing and equipment will be sanitized between students.

 

Yoga for Jiu Jitsu – this yoga practice is primarily a Yin Yoga style that will focus on the body parts we just worked in the jiu jitsu class before this one.  Yin Yoga is a passive and restorative practice that involves holding passive postures for three to five minutes while connecting mind, body, and breath.  Yin Yoga stretches the body’s connective tissue giving more range for all other active yang-style activities (like jiu jitsu and kickboxing).  Yin Yoga is restorative, meditative, and a good balance for all jiu jitsu yangsters.  There will be NO adjustments or assists given in this class at this time.
