Jen Perry brings a unique and holistic perspective to her role as a Jiu Jitsu instructor. Originally from San Diego and Maryland, Jen's journey into martial arts began with boxing before she found her home on the mats at Pentagon MMA in Virginia in late 2021.
Jen's teaching style for kids is centered on fostering autonomy and critical thinking, encouraging them to work through challenges while providing support when needed. She also emphasizes building a strong community spirit, teaching kids to be confident and supportive of one another. Her primary goal is to empower girls and women in the sport, helping them build confidence in their ability to defend themselves and understand their own worth. Of course, her ultimate personal goal is to earn her black belt. One of Jen’s passions is advocating for women's mental health and encouraging confidence and self-worth in her students.
Professionally, Jen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and serves as a Budget Analyst for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). Beyond the gym, Jen is passionate about promoting mental health for women, a topic she explores in a book she has written to provide encouragement for those dealing with trauma and depression. She also advocates for a holistic lifestyle and is an avid volunteer, currently training a rescued pitbull and sewing quilts for Project Linus.
