Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, George Sarvis brings a unique blend of discipline, artistry, and passion to the mat. Before finding his focus in Jiu-Jitsu, George developed a foundation of consistency and commitment during two years of playing hockey in his youth. However, it was Jiu Jitsu that truly clicked for him, starting his journey at Unicorn Jiu-Jitsu in April 2023 with no prior martial arts background.
On the mats, George quickly showed a fierce commitment to competition. His favorite highlight from his white belt journey was executing a lightning-fast, 21-second armbar in his final tournament at that rank, a testament to his focus and aggression in grappling.
George credits Unicorn with providing more than just instruction; he appreciates how the gym's coaching and culture have given him a renewed focus, confidence, and community. This positive environment has driven his rapid skill acquisition.
When teaching and training, George emphasizes dynamic movements and impactful finishing techniques. His favorite techniques include the aggressive step-through pass, effective submissions like the punch choke, and the high-percentage finish of the bow and arrow choke. George looks forward to continuing to grow with the UJJ community and sharing the powerful focus Jiu Jitsu has brought to his life.
George's professional life is centered on artistry and precision. He has worked as a full-time tattoo artist for nine years, a career that involved a rigorous two-year apprenticeship, ensuring he understands the commitment required to master a demanding craft. He also maintains certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED, underscoring his responsible and safety-conscious nature.
